Mag is in -

It is the project for an international exhibition of independent magazines and zines. The strenght of the naming MAG IS IN is given by its multiple meanings. It sounds almost like magazine, and the IN conclusion has different meanings, in itself and giving the possibility to create several adjectives with that start. What brackets do, actually, is describing in details a part of the speech, giving it a definition, an interpretation. Magazines, especially the independent ones, always give a re interpretation of reality, that tries to propose new points of view, new reflections.

Complex shapes -

This project started as a joke we did with some friends in university, creating the characters of our teachers. It ended up being rather involving though. I read a book about Escher that made me think I should explore the potentials of complex shapes compenetrations, and that's why I decided to use the characters to create complex patterns, that could have several applications.

The metamorphosys -

In this project I've tried to represent the environment and the background of The metamorphosis of Kafka with an infographic that would be the cover of the book. In the front of the book you can see the protagonist situation (innere- interior) during the story: what he had to do, its double nature of human and monster. In the spine there are his parents and the relationship they have with him. The back of the book (aubere- external) shows the gap between Gregor Samsa (represented like a monster but with a human soul) and the other characters of the story that are in the opposite situation. December 2010.

Palazzo Madama -

The corporate image of the famous Turin Palace- Museum was designed in collaboration with Francesca Oddenino and Quattrolinee Studio. The contest asked the redesign of the corporate image, starting from the logotype and the logotype position. For the logotype, instead of a classical serif font, we decided to use a slab serif, the Sommet Slab font, to make it become a bit more contemporary. The other two foundamental elements of the corporate image were the textures, and the sloping line on a fixed grid. My part of the project consisted mainly in invent and design the textures (obtained by the different parts of the logo) and in create the floor maps.

Pupazzle -

The project was entirely projected, drawn, materially shaped, built and painted by Francesca Oddenino and me. It is a project for 3 tables for kids, stackable or usable in several positions, thanks to the holes and their different heights (40cm, 50cm, and 60cm). Each table contains a puzzle, with a different theme (the farm, the sea and the savana). Each animal is shaped by the blank spaces left by the others. September 2010.

Ryanair -

This project was a comparative advertising campaign that we had to design for a University course. We were asked to underline the positive characteristics of Ryanair, compared to all of the other low cost companies, and in particular to its closest competitor, Easyjet. We decided to focus our work on the fact that Ryanair is the company with the highest number of on-time flights in Europe. The comparison is ironic, and fun, all based on pictograms. Designed in collaboration with Francesca Oddenino in May 2011.

Mondobio -

This was the first effective work that was offered to Francesca Oddenino and me. We designed it between april 2010 and october 2010, as we had to design all of the corporate identity of the organic supermarket. First of all, we designed the logo, sintetizing the world (mondo) enveloped by leaves, the organic side of it.Afterwards, we designed everything for the interiors and exteriors, the banners, the billbords, the pricetags, and the website as well.

ABC - a videogame alphabet -

This project was made for a University exam in collaboration with Francesca Oddenino in September 2011. It's a creative alphabet based on the binari code made to show the videogames world. Every character was formed by an ambigram and drawn like the videogames they were inspired from. The ABC that we produced is a little book formed using two floppy discs and transparent slides to display each letter in a more effective way (similar to the pc screen).

Fairytales -

This is an experimental project I did for myself, to explore the potentials of basic shapes in illustrations. I illustrated several characters from the most important tales, as Snowwhite, Pocahontas, and other princesses, but also as horror characters (Frankestein, for eg.)
Here is a selection of those illustrations and of some applications they could have for merchandising.

Save the duck! -

This project was a complex creation that we had to build up for a University course. It was for Costa Crociere, and we were asked to invent something to rise their sales. We decided to base our project on a real event In 1998, a chinese ship transporting 300thousands rubber duckies sinked in the ocean. The duckies had to start a new trip, and became a collectionable symbol of how an unfortunate event could become positive in some way: they helped experts to trace the ocean currents and prevent other environmental disasters. They were a poetic story too. We chose them to prove everyone can have an adventure, and sailing is always an adventure. In collaboration with Francesca Oddenino. June 2011

XII -

The project is a complex work using several media. It was created in April 2011 for a University course. We had to imagine a new world, with its own alphabet, interactions, and we had to invent everything about its communication system. Our world was a universe where people were so involved and enslaved by technology that they couldn't have real connections or relationships with other people anymore. The uploaded video is a porn video, with an auto-composed remixed music, featuring Stockhausen, Ellen Allien, Kraftwerk, Led Zeppelin, etc. Intense, electronic, simulating an orgasm, this porn video would be the last attempt of the system to try to awake people. In collaboration with Francesca Oddenino.

Everyday heroes -

The project promoted the viral event "Everyday heroes" for "Posterheroes". Posterheroes is a 50 x 70 poster contest that enhances the public consciousness about environment. The viral event took place during the Turin design week in November 2011, when people were asked to think about smart everyday actions to reduce their environmental impact, and write them down on the back of the cards, to win a bike or a bike sharing subscription. There are 3 different cards, representing Batman, Wolverine and Spiderman, each one created by "green" symbols. Designed In collaboration with Francesca Oddenino. 10,000 cards printed by Favini, our sponsor. The shape of the card is taken from the Posterheroes logo (shaped as the light projection behind the comics heroes).

Portfolio -

This portfolio was created as a final work for a University exam so it contains all of the work I've done for that course. It was handmade, obtained cutting and painting some cardboards to create a box that, like a Pantone palette, contains all of the printed works. For each work, infact, I've chosen the most representative colour. The perforated logo on the main face of the box was my personal logo that summarizes with simple shapes my surname.
